My undergraduate degree was obtained at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI. I have a BA with a double major in Political Science and Geography. I graduated in 1984 with a commission in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant in the Infantry. I was stationed at Fort Carson, CO in the Fourth Infantry Division. From 1984 to 1987 I served on active duty. This assignment gave me invaluable leadership experience. I learned the limits of human endurance and the dynamics of personalities that tests your leadership as a young officer in command of a Rifle Platoon. In 1987 I was hired by ServiceMaster Company, at the time the largest service company in the world, as a Coordinating Manager. I had the opportunity to be a part of several assignments in the Western United States as a part of the Industrial Management Services Division of ServiceMaster. Being a part of the largest service company gave me a thorough understanding of budgets and proposals. From 2001 to 2007 I worked as a Facilitator with Aeroteck (Automotive). This assignment taught me to be compassionate due to the many down sizing decisions at the General Motors facilities I served. In the spring of 2012 I earned a Master of Arts in Rehabilitation of the Blind from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. I am a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) with the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) since that time. My wife Melanie, and I, spend time with our three grandsons. We enjoy travelling and visiting places we have never been to. I have a twenty-nine year old son and a twenty-eight year old daughter. I also have a twenty-five year old step-daughter and a twenty-three year old step-daughter. Melanie and I love to visit and spend time with our children.
