Vanda Pharmaceuticals and Non-24 hour Sleep Wake Disorder
Vanda Pharmaceuticals is a global biopharmaceutical company based in Washington, DC. We work to develop new medicines that address unmet medical needs and improve the lives of patients.
Registered Nurse Educators at Vanda work to raise awareness of Non-24-Hour Sleep-Wake Disorder (Non-24), a circadian rhythm disorder that occurs when the body clock becomes out of sync with the 24-hour day-night cycle resulting in sleep and wake disturbances. Non-24 is not a new disorder. Its prevalence is high in the blindness community but awareness of it is low. Clinical studies estimate that up to 70% of people who are totally blind have Non-24 and may not even know it.
Do you, or does someone you know, experience an overwhelming urge to sleep during the day? Do you have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep at night? Are your sleep patterns different from those of your family members, your friends, or co-workers? If you answered yes to any of these questions, or if this sounds like someone you know, contact your nurse educator Vicki Preddy, RN, for more information or to schedule a Non-24 educational program at 202-578-9060 firstname.lastname@example.org.
